The hull: The iron keel was then removed and all bolts in the keel, the bottom log and the bow/stern were replaced with acid-resistant A4 steel. New oak frames were laminated around the mast. The masthead was replaced and the bottom logs below were changed to laminated ring frames that are connected to the oak frames. Bolts between the frame and bottom logs are now acid-resistant. In the hull, screws and bolts were changed to acid-resistant. There is a saw cut between the gangways where a strip has been glued in. The skin has been re-glued and sanded, oiled and painted.
