The 2017 Sea Ray Sundancer 320 marked a significant evolution in Sea Ray’s popular Express Cruiser line. Moving away from the classic, cabin-focused „cave“ design of older Sundancers, the 320 successfully incorporated the social and open-air elements of a bowrider, creating a versatile day boat and comfortable weekender all in one package.
Design and Exterior: A Focus on Deck Living
The primary innovation of the 320 is the brilliant use of exterior space, particularly the forward bow lounge.
Integrated Bow Seating: Unlike older cruisers where the bow sunpad was an afterthought accessed via a steep, folding staircase, the 320 features a dedicated, secure port-side walk-through from the cockpit. This leads to a spacious foredeck with three forward-facing seats, complete with actuated headrests and fold-down armrests. This is a massive area for lounging, safely usable even when underway.
Cockpit Versatility: The cockpit maximizes social space under the protection of the coupe enclosure. Key features include a rotating helm companion seat that swivels to face the cockpit dinette, making it a central gathering spot.
Wet Bar: The cockpit galley, with a sink and storage, includes a dual-voltage refrigerator and an electric grill, moving the cooking area out of the cabin to where the fun is happening.
Performance and Handling
Engine Configuration: Twin Volkswagen/MerCruiser 3.0L V6 TDI Diesel engines producing 260hp each with Bravo III drives. (Note: Low engine hours).
Performance: This diesel setup provides exceptional torque, better fuel efficiency, and a solid cruising speed in the mid-20s (knots), with a maximum speed around 32 knots.
Helm Station: The helm is modern and ergonomic, featuring the Dual Digital Dash, providing a sophisticated, glass-cockpit feel.
Interior Accommodations
Despite the emphasis on the deck, the cabin maintains the necessary comforts for weekend overnighting, comfortably sleeping four adults.
Sleeping Arrangements: V-Berth: The forward dinette converts into a comfortable double berth.
Mid-Cabin: Aft beneath the cockpit, there is a second private mid-cabin featuring twin berths .
